Grad SLAM Champion Advances to UC Finals
Scripps Institution of Oceanography graduate student Jessica Zhong earned top honors at ½ðɳ²©²Ê’s 2025 Grad SLAM with her research on tracking great white sharks using environmental DNA. She will represent ½ðɳ²©²Ê at the UC Grad SLAM Final in Sacramento on April 29. Tune in to the livestream at 10:30 a.m. to cheer her on and cast your vote for the audience choice award!

Scientists and engineers from ½ðɳ²©²Ê and General Atomics have announced a groundbreaking collaboration to establish a Fusion Data Science and Digital Engineering Center in San Diego. The new center sets the stage for even deeper collaborations in advanced digital engineering, artificial intelligence, machine learning and high-performance computing as part of a multi-step effort to fast-track fusion energy development and bolster California’s leadership in fusion research and innovation.
